WELCOME
The Inspire School of Homeopathic Practice (ISHP) is committed to training safe, ethical and professionally competent homeopaths. The Diploma combines academic study with practical experience, supervision, professional development and practice building to prepare students for independent professional practice.
PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
The Diploma in Homeopathic Practice is a three-year programme.
Year 1 focuses on the foundations of homeopathy, anatomy and physiology, pathology, philosophy, repertory, materia medica, acute prescribing and the Three Principles of Wellbeing Certificate.
Year 2 develops chronic disease management, advanced prescribing, clinical reasoning, differential analysis and acute clinical learning opportunities.
Year 3 focuses on supervised professional practice, completion of 30 supervised chronic cases, practice development and the transition into independent practice.
TEACHING AND STUDY
Students should normally expect:
• Approximately 10 teaching weekends per academic year.
• Approximately 10–15 hours of independent study each week.
• Tutorials, supervision, assignments and clinical learning throughout the programme.
Students are encouraged to join live sessions 5–10 minutes before the scheduled start time.
ATTENDANCE AND PROGRESSION
Students are expected to attend at least 80% of live teaching sessions.
Progression is based upon a student's overall academic, clinical and professional development, including attendance, participation, assessments, clinical competence, professional conduct and fitness to practise.
Where additional tutorials, supervision or repeat study are required, additional costs may apply.
ASSESSMENTS
Assessment is intended to support learning and professional development.
Students normally have one initial submission and up to two resubmissions for each assessment. Extensions may be available where appropriate.
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND AI
Students must submit work that genuinely reflects their own understanding and clinical reasoning.
Artificial intelligence (AI) may be used to support learning but must not replace independent thinking or professional judgement. Significant AI use should be acknowledged.
Fabrication of assignments, clinical records, attendance or clinical experience is regarded as serious misconduct.
CLINICAL TRAINING
Clinical learning develops progressively throughout the Diploma through observation, discussion, supervised learning and real clinical experience.
Year 3 students complete a minimum of 30 supervised chronic cases, normally comprising:
• 15 cases within a chosen clinical focus.
• 15 general practice cases.
Students are responsible for finding suitable case subjects.
Clinical work may be undertaken on a paid, discounted or voluntary basis where appropriate and where students comply with the legal, regulatory, professional and insurance requirements applicable within their own jurisdiction.
CLINICAL SUPERVISION
Clinical supervision forms a core part of the Diploma.
Students pay supervision fees directly to their approved supervisor.
The School currently intends that the supervision required to complete the Diploma will normally cost around £500 per student, although this is an estimate rather than a guarantee.
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
Students are expected to demonstrate professionalism throughout their studies through respectful communication, honesty, integrity, confidentiality, ethical behaviour, appropriate boundaries, professional responsibility and fitness to practise.
Graduates who identify themselves as holders of the Diploma in Homeopathic Practice or as ISHP graduates become ambassadors for both the profession and the School. Their professional conduct contributes to the reputation of the qualification they have earned.
CONFIDENTIALITY AND SAFEGUARDING
Students must maintain patient confidentiality, protect personal information, respect intellectual property, participate from an appropriate private environment and develop appropriate safeguarding awareness.
EQUALITY, ACCESSIBILITY AND STUDENT SUPPORT
The School welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and seeks to provide an inclusive learning environment.
Reasonable adjustments may be considered where appropriate while maintaining the competencies required for safe professional practice.
Support is available through tutorials, supervision, feedback and the Student Forum.
PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT
Throughout the Diploma, students develop the practical skills required to establish an ethical, professionally rewarding and financially sustainable homeopathic practice, including professional communication, patient recruitment, practice management, professional visibility and business systems.
COMMUNICATION AND STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Students are expected to:
• Check School communications regularly.
• Keep their contact details up to date.
• Meet deadlines.
• Maintain suitable technology.
• Take responsibility for their own learning, professional development and administrative obligations.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Students experiencing significant life circumstances are encouraged to contact the School as early as possible.
Leave of Absence requests are considered individually. Fees already paid are normally non-refundable, although the School may, at its discretion, apply previous payments as credit towards future study where appropriate.
GRADUATION
To be awarded the Diploma, students must successfully complete all programme requirements, including academic assessments, clinical training, supervised cases, attendance and progression requirements, professional conduct and fitness to practise.
The award of the Diploma reflects the School's judgement that the graduate is ready to begin professional practice safely and responsibly.
SCHOOL POLICIES
Students are expected to read and comply with the Student Handbook, Student Agreement, Privacy Policy and Complaints & Appeals Procedure.
The latest published versions of School policies will apply.
